Niccolo Machiavelli
Introduction
Considered as the "father of modern political theory” Niccolo Machiavelli was born in in Florence, Italy in 1469. Through experienced he gained from serving as a diplomat for years Machiavelli wrote the famous book titled The Prince. In the book, he talked about how a government or a leader supposed to function to keep everyone in check. He also talked about how leaders should always be feared rather than loved so that they can maintain the power or superiority. According to Historians, the Prince became the platform for every politician. Even in our modern time, we have witnessed many leaders use force as a tool for keeping authority. A perfect example would Kim Jong-Un of North Korea, Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, and Bashar Al Assad of Syria. Machiavelli’s ideas and thoughts about politics became known as the “Machiavellian.”
